We were delighted to welcome the Leader of Wiltshire Council, Cllr Ian Thorn, and the Leader of Trowbridge Town Council, Cllr Mel Jacob, to our networking breakfast and Q&A at Parade House in Trowbridge this morning.
The event was well attended by Trowbridge Chamber members including Fabric Magic, SMARTech Energy, SOMA Body Clinic and Jobs on Toast, and new Partner Members Apetito and Cereal Partners.
After coffee, pastries and networking, we were all seated for the Q&A session with the Council Leaders. Questions ranged from how to speed up the planning process to what new schools and infrastructure are being built for the 2,000+ new Trowbridge homes, and why there are no flags flying on the Trowbridge flagpoles.
Much good news was shared, from the rapid development of Trowbridge’s new £25m leisure centre to the new £15m Integrated Health Centre, the opening of the spectacular Old Trowbridge Town Hall arts centre last weekend after its £9m refurbishment, and the construction of Wiltshire’s largest private employer apetito’s new £100m Trowbridge factory.
Those who hadn’t been to Parade House before, were given a tour of the historic building, including the ballroom, the panelled reception rooms and the vaulted cinema and bar, which are available for private and corporate events.
