SUMMARY:Trowbridge ShopWatch Retailers Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Trowbridge retailers are invited to a meeting at The Civic from 5pm-6pm on 4th February to discuss local retail crime figures\, trends and actions to increase town centre safety as part of the Trowbridge #SaferStreets campaign. \nPlease book your free ticket HERE. \nThe joint Chamber of Commerce and Trowbridge Police event offers an opportunity for businesses to exchange information with the police and fellow businesses and to discuss issues affecting local retailers with a view to reducing retail crime. \nShopwatch schemes play a crucial role in enhancing the safety and security of retail environments.  These schemes bring together local businesses\, law enforcement and community safety teams to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in shopping areas. Effective communication is at the heart of Shopwatch schemes\, enabling quick responses to incidents and the sharing of vital information. \nDigital two-way radios such as Storenet\, which is in operation in Trowbridge stores\, have become an indispensable tool for these initiatives\, offering numerous benefits that enhance the effectiveness of Shopwatch schemes. \nShopwatch is a community based initiative where businesses in a specific area collaborate to prevent crime.  The scheme often involves regular meetings between local shop owners\, security personnel\, and the police to discuss issues\, share information and coordinate responses to criminal activity.  Participants often use two-way radios to communicate in real-time\, enabling them to respond quickly to incidents and deter potential offenders. \nSergeant Charly Chilton of the Trowbridge Community Policing team said: “This meeting will give retailers an opportunity to discuss the issues they are currently experiencing and for the local Neighbourhood Policing team to talk about the work they are currently doing to tackle shoplifting and other associated offences”. \nChair of Trowbridge Chamber\, Kez Garner\, said: “We are pleased to organise this second ShopWatch meeting with Trowbridge Police and local businesses to address the issue of retail crime.  All businesses are encouraged to report any ASB\, shoplifting and other offences and to sign up to our town centre Storenet radio system. Installing CCTV is also recommended to add to the increasing CCTV coverage of  the town centre.” \nPlease book your free ticket HERE (tea/coffee provided)
