SUMMARY:Festival of Remembrance 2025: Marking 80 Years Since VE & VJ Day
DESCRIPTION:Saturday 1st November | The Civic\, Trowbridge \nThis year marks a historic milestone – 80 years since the end of the Second World War. At our 2025 Festival of Remembrance\, we invite you to join us in an evening of reflection\, storytelling\, and shared gratitude as we commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day and VJ Day. \nThese pivotal moments in history signified the end of a global conflict and the beginning of peace. Together\, we’ll honour the courage and sacrifice of those who served on the battlefields of Europe and the Pacific\, and those who supported them from home. Their resilience shaped the freedoms we enjoy today. \nThere will be a commemoration at the Trowbridge Park War Memorial fromm 7pm-7.30pm\, followed by an evening event at The Civic. \nThe evening will feature stirring live performances from The Steeple Rock Choir\, The Steeple Belles\, and The Wiltshire Police Band\, alongside moving readings\, personal accounts\, and moments of silence to remember and give thanks. Following the remembrance service\, there will be a ‘party of celebration’ of VE and VJ day with entertainment from Five Star Swing bringing ‘Hits from the Blitz’. \nWhether you’re a veteran\, a family member\, or simply someone who wants to reflect on our shared past\, everyone is welcome. Let’s come together to remember\, to honour\, and to ensure that the legacy of those who served lives on for future generations. \nSeats are limited—book early to avoid disappointment. \nBOOK YOUR TICKETS HERE

SUMMARY:ShopWatch Meeting - Trowbridge Town Centre Businesses + Wiltshire Police
DESCRIPTION:Trowbridge town centre business owners and managers are invited to a meeting at The Civic from 1200-1300 on Tuesday 9th September to discuss issues affecting local retailers with a view to reducing town centre crime. \nThe joint Chamber and Trowbridge Police event offers an opportunity for businesses to exchange information with the police and fellow businesses and to network with fellow businesses. \nShopwatch is a community based initiative where businesses in a specific area collaborate to prevent crime.  The scheme often involves regular meetings between local shop owners\, security personnel\, and the police to discuss issues\, share information and coordinate responses to criminal activity.  Participants often use two-way radios to communicate in real-time\, enabling them to respond quickly to incidents and deter potential offenders. \nAll businesses are encouraged to report any ASB\, shoplifting and other offences and to sign up to our town centre Storenet radio system. Installing CCTV is also recommended to add to the increasing CCTV coverage of  the town centre.” \nPlease BOOK YOUR FREE TICKET HERE
