SUMMARY:Trowbridge ShopWatch Retailers Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Trowbridge retailers are invited to a meeting at The Civic from 5pm-6pm on 4th February to discuss local retail crime figures\, trends and actions to increase town centre safety as part of the Trowbridge #SaferStreets campaign. \nPlease book your free ticket HERE. \nThe joint Chamber of Commerce and Trowbridge Police event offers an opportunity for businesses to exchange information with the police and fellow businesses and to discuss issues affecting local retailers with a view to reducing retail crime. \nShopwatch schemes play a crucial role in enhancing the safety and security of retail environments.  These schemes bring together local businesses\, law enforcement and community safety teams to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in shopping areas. Effective communication is at the heart of Shopwatch schemes\, enabling quick responses to incidents and the sharing of vital information. \nDigital two-way radios such as Storenet\, which is in operation in Trowbridge stores\, have become an indispensable tool for these initiatives\, offering numerous benefits that enhance the effectiveness of Shopwatch schemes. \nShopwatch is a community based initiative where businesses in a specific area collaborate to prevent crime.  The scheme often involves regular meetings between local shop owners\, security personnel\, and the police to discuss issues\, share information and coordinate responses to criminal activity.  Participants often use two-way radios to communicate in real-time\, enabling them to respond quickly to incidents and deter potential offenders. \nSergeant Charly Chilton of the Trowbridge Community Policing team said: “This meeting will give retailers an opportunity to discuss the issues they are currently experiencing and for the local Neighbourhood Policing team to talk about the work they are currently doing to tackle shoplifting and other associated offences”. \nChair of Trowbridge Chamber\, Kez Garner\, said: “We are pleased to organise this second ShopWatch meeting with Trowbridge Police and local businesses to address the issue of retail crime.  All businesses are encouraged to report any ASB\, shoplifting and other offences and to sign up to our town centre Storenet radio system. Installing CCTV is also recommended to add to the increasing CCTV coverage of  the town centre.” \nPlease book your free ticket HERE (tea/coffee provided)

SUMMARY:Valentine's Day Film - Notting Hill - The Screening Room
DESCRIPTION:For Valentine’s Day\, a special treat… \nEven now\, a little over 25 years on\, Notting Hill stands apart as one of the best and most warm-hearted romantic comedies of all time. It’s the finest by far of the trio of films – the others being Four Weddings & A Funeral and Love\, Actually – which established the reputation of both Hugh Grant as an actor and Richard Curtis as a writer. But its greatest strength is the luminous presence of Julia Roberts in what is still her career-best performance\, playing… well\, herself. \nAdding extra lustre is the film’s superb supporting cast of familiar faces\, not just scene-stealer supreme Rhys Ifans\, but also the much-missed Emma Chambers and Hugh Bonneville when he was still stuck playing bumbling idiots. \nIt’s a total delight. Come and see it with us as your Valentine’s Day treat and fall in love all over again. \nBOOK FILM HERE \nWhy not make a wonderful romantic evening of it and join us for dinner before the movie? \nBOOK YOUR VALENTINE’S DINNER HERE

SUMMARY:VEVJ Day - Illuminate your building
DESCRIPTION:Thursday 8th May will mark 80 years since the end of the Second World War in Europe. To commemorate this momentous occasion\, the Government has announced an events programme between Bank Holiday Monday (5th May) and VE Day (8th May)\, culminating in a nationwide celebration of this historic day. \nAs part of this commemoration\, they are strongly encouraging iconic buildings and landmarks such to illuminate their facades from 21:00 each evening from Tuesday 6th May to Thursday 8th May.  \nVE Day marks the end of the Second World War in Europe\, a day that represents the resilience\, sacrifices\, and courage of those who fought for our freedom. It is a day of immense historical significance\, and we believe it is crucial that this anniversary is honoured in a visible and meaningful way. \nMany government buildings will be lighting up to mark this occasion\, and we would be honoured if your building could join this collective effort. Given the prominence and visibility of your building\, lighting it in red\, white\, and blue or simply in red would be a powerful statement of remembrance. If possible\, incorporating the ‘V for Victory’ symbol or an animated display would further emphasise the spirit of this important occasion if your building has the technical capabilities to do so. \nYour involvement will help make this moment of remembrance even more impactful for the entire community. Once confirmed\, we will then look to feature this on the official VEVJ Day website\, https://ve-vjday80.gov.uk/ \, showcasing your contribution to this important national remembrance.
