SUMMARY:Ushers 200th Anniversary - Parade House
DESCRIPTION:Ushers Heritage Day – Sat 7th September \nBuilt in around 1720 for the wealthy cloth merchant Robert Houlton\, Parade House is one of the finest and most elegant buildings in Trowbridge – the centrepiece of what Pevsner’s Guide to Wiltshire described as a ‘stretch of palaces’ along Fore Street. \nThis prestigious building features beautifully furnished reception rooms\, a sweeping original 18th Century staircase leading to a grand first floor ballroom with seven full height sash windows spanning the width of the building. \nUshers 200th Anniversary \nFrom 1918 until 1998\, Parade House was the head office of Ushers Brewery\, which was founded in 1824. In its heyday in the 20th century it was one of the biggest brewers in the South West and a much-loved pillar of Trowbridge community. \nThis Heritage Day\, Parade House will be commemorating Ushers’ 200th Anniversary with a major celebration that will include photographs and memorabilia\, including a vintage Ushers lorry\, special displays\, live music and a beer tent in the forecourt operated by local craft brewer Kettlesmith.  Afternoon tea\, drinks and refreshments will also be served inside the house. \nEntry to Parade House will be free to the public from 11am until 4pm. \nBOOK FREE TICKETS HERE (No entry without a ticket) \nUshers Reunion Party\nAt 5pm we will be holding a special Ushers Reunion Party for past employees of the brewery. Because of limits on the number of people we can accommodate in Parade House\, admission to the reunion will initially be restricted to former employees. Come and renew contact with old Ushers colleagues\, share memories and stories from your experiences\, hear special talks from key managers and staff from Ushers\, and enjoy drinks and snacks. \nTickets for the Ushers Reunion Party will go on sale soon. Please let us know if you were an Ushers employee and would like information about the party. \n\n\n\nOrganizer\n\nParade House Trowbridge –\n Contact the event organiser – +44 1225 592135

SUMMARY:Trowbridge Shopwatch - Police & Businesses Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Trowbridge retailers are invited to a meeting at The Civic from 2pm-3pm on 5th November to discuss local retail crime figures\, trends and actions to increase town centre safety as part of the Trowbridge #SaferStreets campaign. \nPlease book your free ticket HERE. \nThe joint Chamber of Commerce and Trowbridge Police event offers an opportunity for businesses to exchange information with the police and fellow businesses and to discuss issues affecting local retailers with a view to reducing retail crime. \nShopwatch schemes play a crucial role in enhancing the safety and security of retail environments.  These schemes bring together local businesses\, law enforcement and community safety teams to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in shopping areas. Effective communication is at the heart of Shopwatch schemes\, enabling quick responses to incidents and the sharing of vital information. \nDigital two-way radios such as Storenet\, which is in operation in Trowbridge stores\, have become an indispensable tool for these initiatives\, offering numerous benefits that enhance the effectiveness of Shopwatch schemes. \nShopwatch is a community based initiative where businesses in a specific area collaborate to prevent crime.  The scheme often involves regular meetings between local shop owners\, security personnel\, and the police to discuss issues\, share information and coordinate responses to criminal activity.  Participants often use two-way radios to communicate in real-time\, enabling them to respond quickly to incidents and deter potential offenders. \nSergeant Charly Chilton of the Trowbridge Community Policing team said: “This meeting will give retailers an opportunity to discuss the issues they are currently experiencing and for the local Neighbourhood Policing team to talk about the work they are currently doing to tackle shoplifting and other associated offences”. \nChair of Trowbridge Chamber\, Kez Garner\, said: “We are pleased to organise this meeting with Trowbridge Police and local businesses to address the issue of retail crime.  All businesses are encouraged to report any ASB\, shoplifting and other offences and to sign up to our town centre Storenet radio system. Installing CCTV is also recommended to add to the increasing CCTV coverage of  the town centre.” \nPlease book your free ticket HERE.  Coffee will be available from 1345.
